Panel: Engendering Development in the Global South, 24 May 2023

Dear All,

I would like to invite you to our panel titled ‘Engendering Development in the Global South' between 2pm and 3.30pm (in British Summer Time) on Wednesday, 24th May. Please find the flyer attached below. Details are also available on EventBrite.

For this panel, Anjana Thampi, Irene Selwaness, and I explore the relationship between gender inequality and development. Critically engaging with the views of development economists, through an analysis of India, Egypt, and Turkey, we investigate that the gendered patterns of wealth accumulation, unpaid care work and state formation have significant roles in shaping the trajectories of capitalist development.

I hope that you will join us for this important discussion.

Very best,
Ece
