The Department of Sociology at New Mexico State University (NMSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology, effective Fall Semester 2025. The primary area of research specialization is open. Methodologically, a specialization in computational methods is required. The candidate is expected to teach courses in their substantive area(s) of focus as well as computational methods courses as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program that includes seeking external funding. The department encourages candidates to demonstrate an interest in developing a research agenda that involves issues of the desert Southwest and Border Region. The candidate will be expected to teach online and on-campus undergraduate and graduate courses that meet the needs of the department. The standard teaching load is 2/3. Other duties include mentoring and service.
