The special issue on Domestic work in South Africa, guest edited by Prof. David du Toit, Department of Sociology, University of Johannesburg, is now available online. Published by The Thinker, this special issue is an output of a virtual symposium called ‘Maids and Madams: Change and Transformation over Four Decades’, organized by the guest editor at the Department of Sociology at the University of Johannesburg in 2022. It includes a selection of the symposium presenters’ contributions alongside other prominent scholars’ works, providing a comprehensive debate on the changes and transformations in paid domestic work in South Africa.
