International Sociological Association's Research Committee on Economy & Society

Postdoc position in Sustainable Societal Transformation and Industrial Change in Karlstad U (Sweden). DL June 5

We are currently advertising a postdoc position in Sustainable Societal Transformation and Industrial Change, to be based at Karlstad University in Sweden. It may be of interest to list members with expertise in studying de/reindustrialisation, as well as those who consider themselves environmental sociologists more broadly.

Working alongside geographers and historians in Sweden and England, you will investigate how green (low-carbon) transitions in the steel industry interact with worker- and place-based identities in industrial communities, and how these interactions affect possibilities for successful and just low-carbon transitions.

As the project adopts an interdisciplinary approach, we are open to applicants with a PhD in a range of social science disciplines, but experience in conducting qualitative research is essential. The ability to communicate effectively in English is also essential, while a working knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language would be desirable.

The post is available on a full time basis for a period of two years, starting this autumn.

Applications are due 5 June and interviews will be held the week starting 13 June. To see more details about the position and to apply, please go to the Karlstad University website: https://kau.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:504900.

If you have any further questions about the position or the application process, please contact me at bregje.vanveelen@geo.uu.se
