Open Call for Session Organizers at the XX ISA World Congress of Sociology in Melbourne 2023
Mark your calendars! The XX ISA World Congress of Sociology will be held in Melbourne, Australia from June 25 to July 1, 2023. The theme will be Resurgent Authoritarianism: Sociology of New Entanglements of Religions, Politics, and Economies. Would you like to be there? Even better, would you like to be a Session Organizer that dreams up a session topic, issues a call for papers, and organizes a session? RC02 (Economy & Society) will hold at least 22 sessions—we need your best ideas!
Volunteering as a Session Organizer is a competitive process, but an administratively simple one. In May, ISA’s Confex platform opens for you to send RC02 your proposals. Specifically, you will be able to upload your session proposals between May 2 – 31, 2022, with a sharp deadline of 24:00 GMT on May 31 when ISA closes the portal for submissions. As we move closer to the May 2 opening, we’ll supply additional details on the website address and formatting—however, you can expect the proposal’s length to be roughly the same as an article’s abstract. I am most interested in proposals for research topics that involve an open call for papers that can potentially attract scholars from across the globe. Each session is 110 minutes to accommodate 5 papers and 20 minutes of collective discussion.
As a reminder, if you have a proposal that is too large for a large room and could fill an auditorium, the deadlines for Integrative Sessions and Author Meets Critics Sessions is fast approaching (May 10 24:00 GMT). See the link for details.
