Call for Thematic Issues for the journal Sociální studia/Social Studies, deadline: 31 January 2019

The journal Sociální studia / Social Studies is announcing a Call for two guest-edited thematic issues. The issues will be published in 2020 and each issue will focus on a specific topic. The issues will be edited by a team of guest editors and the present editors of Sociální studia / Social Studies.

Sociální studia / Social Studies is a well-established sociological journal, published since 2004 at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University, both electronically and in print. The journal is fully open-access, indexed in SCOPUS and ERIH PLUS.

Although the journal is aimed at a sociological readership, we also accept sociologically informed and sociologically relevant contributions from scholars in other fields of the social sciences and humanities. We appreciate articles that offer new ways of understanding social issues as well as innovative critical commentary on the current debates within sociology and the social sciences. The journal welcomes articles reflecting on emergent and challenging issues of a substantive, conceptual, theoretical, or methodological character. Texts that focus on Central Europe or help to mediate between this region and international scholarly debates are welcome. If you are interested in guest-editing a thematic issue, please send us the following:

  • proposed thematic focus of the issue (including its relevance)

  • a preliminary list of contributors

  • plan for recruitment of authors

  • a short CV of each editor, including previous experience with (co)editorship

Proposals should be sent to the journal’s email address socstud@fss.muni.cz.

The deadline is 31 January 2019.

More detailed information is available on request. Read more about the journal online at: https://journals.muni.cz/socialni_studia/
